COVID-19 ALERT - a message from Dr. Drake
DUE TO THE DECLARATION OF A NATIONAL HEALTH EMERGENCY AND THE CALIFORNIA STAY-AT-HOME ORDER, THE OFFICE IS CURRENTLY CLOSED TO NEW PATIENTS.
ALL ELECTIVE AND NON-EMERGENCY SURGERIES ARE POSTPONED FOR THE NEXT 8 WEEKS.
If you think you are sick, please follow this link: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/if-you-are-sick/steps-when-sick.html and use the orange “self-checker” to assess if urgent medical care is needed.
If you are pregnant, please click on the button “Dr. Drake’s COVID-19 Guide for Pregnancy” above and do the following: stay home, practice social distancing, perform excellent handwashing and hygiene. If you are more than 28 weeks along, please perform a daily kick count. This link can help: https://www.countthekicks.org/how-to-count-kicks/.
These are some of the reasons to present to Labor and Delivery at the hospital:
water is broken (trickling or leaking, fluid running down legs)
strong regular contractions/cramps/rushes
decreased fetal movement (see above re: kick counts)
vaginal bleeding
severe headache, visual disturbance (black spots/blank spots/blurriness), nausea, chest pain, pain in the abdomen on the right upper side (near or under right edge of ribs)
Friends, these are strange times, to be sure. I know it might be frightening and that communications may not be as swift as we would like. Use the above guidelines to determine if you can stay home or if you need to come in to the hospital. Staff is actively attempting to contact patients to reschedule appointments and check in with people. We are thinking of you and your families and trying to allocate resources in the most optimal way so that we can keep the office open and serve as many patients as possible. Please bear with us if your appointment gets rescheduled or transitions into telehealth. Stay safe and be well.
